🌿🦋🌎 Biodiversity Day 🌿🦋🌎

On May 22, we celebrate the International Day for Biological Diversity, established by the United Nations in 2000 to raise ecological awareness among societies.

The theme for 2023 is “From Agreement to Action: Rebuilding Biodiversity,” referring to the outcomes of the 15th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 15), where the groundbreaking Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) was adopted.

The GBF aims to combat biodiversity loss, restore ecosystems, and protect the rights of local communities.
The plan includes specific measures to halt and reverse nature loss, such as protecting 30% of the planet and 30% of degraded ecosystems by 2030.

Biodiversity is crucial for the functioning of ecosystems and ensuring human well-being.

Unfortunately, it is threatened by factors such as air pollution, which negatively impacts terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, degrading the environment and reducing biodiversity.

Therefore, changing human attitudes and relationships with the environment, as well as promoting knowledge and research on the state of biodiversity resources, is essential.
Remember, protecting biodiversity is a challenge that requires all of us to be involved.

Let’s join the celebration of the International Day for Biological Diversity and take care of our planet together 🌿🌍💚
