The last "Carbon Majors" report by InfluenceMap leaves no illusions: global carbon dioxide emissions between 2016 and 2022 were mostly the results of the activities of only 57 producers offossil fuel and cement. It’s worth noting that these 57 companies represent only a small fraction of the total number of businesses worldwide, understanding the import of their actions in sharing the future of our planets.
Leading the list are giants such as Saudi Aramco, Gazprom, and Coal India. Their impact on carbon dioxide emissions is enthusiastic, and we can not ignore the fact that they must bear responsibility for the consistency of their activities. 🌍🔥📉
If they do not take immediate action to reduce emissions, we can expect catastrophic concerns for the natural environment, human health, and the global climate. 🛑❗
But should the responsiveness solely rest on the shoulders of these companies? The countries in which these companies operate also have a duty to act. After all, their regulators and oversight role has a significant influence on how these businesses conduct their affairs.
📝🌿
Our governments must act quickly and decide to create a regulator environment that encourages companies to invest in renewable energy sources, environmentally friendly technologies, and sustainable production practices.
What, in your opinion, should be the consensus for companies that do not reduce their carbon footprint and for the countries where this occurs?
