On June 17th, we celebrate the Day of Desert and Drought. These phenomena are the result of climate change that have threatened our planet for many, many years. The World Day for Combating Desert and Dry was established by the United Nations General Assembly (UN) on 30 January 1995. The Convention was adopted in Paris on 17 June 1994 and signed on 14 October of the same year on behalf of the European Community. Poland ratified the Convention on 17 November 2001. The Assembly then called on countries to raise awareness of the need for international cooperation in the fight against desertification and drought and to implement the provisions of the United Nations Convention on combating desertification in countries affected by these problems, with more and more of these countries.
