On 11 May we celebrate the Day without Garbage, a holiday aimed at paying attention to the problem of growing waste and the need for responsible segregation and recycling.
Every day we are witnessing growing environmental problems, such as air, water and soil pollution, as well as an increase in municipal and post-production waste. Although environmental action is being taken, greater awareness and social commitment are still needed to prevent the inevitable ecological disaster.
So what can we do?
Take simple measures, such as waste segregation, reduced consumption of disposable plastic packaging or responsible management of raw materials. Each of these activities has a real environmental impact.
Okay, but how do I start?
If you are interested in the topic of waste segregation, we encourage you to visit local PSHOK’s websites where you will learn what waste you can dispose of and at what point exactly (sometimes PSHOK has several locations). As for daily segregation, the best place to get information is the websites of cities or municipalities where you will learn what containers and what division is available in your city, district, municipality.
The replacement of disposable packaging is worth starting with the replacement of plastic bags used for vegetables and fruits for multiple-use bags that you take with you from home, to meat products or wet products (buyed by weight) you can take your own box or jar. Most stores won't refuse you to put them in your box. The easy way is also taking your own shopping bags with you – even those foil bags you already bought – are often quite strong and enough for many, many shopping.
We encourage everyone to take an active part in the Day without Trash. We can do much together to take care of our planet and leave it in a better condition for future generations.
